CORZINE NAMES ACTING CHIEF OF OFFICE OF ECONOMIC GROWTH
TRENTON – Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced that Angie McGuire will serve as acting chief of the governor’s Office of Economic Growth while a search is conducted to find a successor to outgoing chief Gary D. Rose.
“Angie has played a critical role in the success of the Office of Economic Growth and I am confident that she will be able to make our transition to a new director as seamless as possible,” Governor Corzine said. “We created this position at the beginning of the administration as part of our effort to maximize growth in the state’s economy by allowing Gary to work across all platforms of state government. His hard work, civic spirit and sound counsel will be missed.”
McGuire, who has served as deputy chief of the office since March of 2006, has more than 20 years experience in the computing and telecom industry. She has a degree in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles and a master’s degree in public administration from Rutgers University. Additionally, McGuire is currently serving as Acting Director of the Commerce Commission.
Rose, who has been the chief of the office since the first days of the Corzine Administration, will depart at the end of the month.
The Office of Economic Growth was established by Executive Order 50 on Jan. 5, 2007, as a permanent part of the executive branch. Its mission is to coordinate the state’s economic development efforts across all sectors and departments. The office oversees the implementation of the state’s Economic Growth Strategy and coordinates efforts to improve the business climate while working to attract and retain good jobs.
