GOVERNOR CORZINE NAMES NEW PRESS SECRETARY
TRENTON - Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced Sean Darcy as his new press secretary. Darcy will replace Lilo Stainton, who left to take the position of communications director at the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission.
"Sean's extensive experience in the governmental process and his ability to communicate complicated issues in clear, concise terms will be an invaluable asset to the administration" Governor Corzine said. "Sean has a reputation that is beyond reproach and brings the integrity that is critical to such a position of high responsibility."
Darcy has worked in Governor Corzine's office for the past year as an issues liaison to various state government agencies. Previously, he served as the Communications Director at the Department of Community Affairs as well as a deputy press secretary for four years in the governor’s office. Prior to working in state government, Darcy worked in advertising and public relations.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role,” said Darcy. “Working with our partners in the Legislature, the Corzine Administration has made significant strides towards restoring fiscal sanity, implementing long-term property tax reform and raising ethical standards throughout government. I am looking forward to continuing this progress in the coming months. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the press corps to ensure that we deliver information to the public in a timely, straightforward fashion.”
Darcy will assume his new duties immediately.
